Security Audits

With the increasing complexity of networks, the rapidly growing integration of software and the fiercely evolving threat landscape, network security can no longer be viewed as a 'set-it-and-forget-it' solution or as the sole responsibility of a heavily-burdened IT department.

One-off 'fixes' are barely worth the value of the paper that the invoice is written on. To successfully combat attack-threats and reduce catastrophic risk, today's security must be fluid, evolving and an organization-wide responsibility.

In this environment, Bulldog Digital Security is extremely focused. We offer the deep, specialized knowledge required for one critical service:

The Network Security Audit

All organizations that have important digital assets and intellectual capital should conduct regular security audits. This is a fact of life in today's business climate. To ignore the very real threat that exists from hostile internal or external sources, is to capitulate.

In keeping with the nature of the battlefield, The Bulldog Network Security Audit is a needs-based service that is customized for each client. We can provide in-depth audits or merely address specific elements of your network. Whichever route you require, you can count on a complete, end-to-end review that provides a clear picture of your current status and needs and a road map to help you manage all elements of your security practices.

We will examine not only the perimeter of your network but the internal systems and organizational policies, procedures and guidelines that form the core of your company's security. This is absolutely vital. Over 70% of security breaches start internally, and they can come from anyone - the Help Desk, telecommuters, middle management, 3rd-party providers - ANYWHERE..

One service that provides many answers
Our Network Security Audit will help you answer a series of critical questions. Among others, these will include:

What is the status of your network security today?
Are you equipped and prepared to detect and respond to network security breaches?
Are you doing the right things to effectively manage your network security?
What effect does security have on your bottom line - today and tomorrow?
What could you be doing better? And how should you go about doing it?

These questions will form the basis of your audit, helping to identify and assess vulnerabilities, plug holes and build a strong future defense.

Key Benefits
A Network Security Audit brings many benefits, the most obvious of which being the ability to identify major security vulnerabilities before they lead to costly incidents. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The implementation of audit recommendations can accrue a broad variety of benefits to the organization. In effect, these benefits can be viewed as 'saving money' or 'making money'.

Cutting Costs
Avoidance of high-profile security breaches
Elimination of existing leaks
Reduced business risk (insurance considerations)
Streamlined process for lower incident response and day-to-day security administration costs
Improved planning and budgeting
Increasing Profitability
Increased up-time
Increased productivity
Improved corporate and individual accountability
Reliable corporate reputation
Improved control of strategic information
= Competitive advantage

Deliverables
Once the audit has been completed, you will receive a thorough Multi-Level Audit Report that will be presented to management by Bulldog Digital Security executive officers.

The executive-level presentation of our Audit Recommendations is probably the biggest reason why much of our business comes from referrals. Our goal is to present network security solutions, not simply problems. Rather than leaving the client with a long list of technical issues without any business context, as some auditors do, we work with you to formulate a strategy that addresses the critical aspects of securing your business.

Follow Through
Leveraging our working knowledge of your environment and operations, we can help you track the effectiveness of your security over time by performing periodic follow-up security audits and helping you address options such as real-time monitoring and other managed security services offerings. As your business changes and as the digital threats change, we'll be right by your side, ensuring that you remain aware of and fully prepared for changing attack methods.

Did you know...
The term "Phishing" refers email fraud that directs unsuspecting users to web sites in order to collect sensitive information like bank accounts, credit cards, passwords, identification numbers, addresses, etc. In summer 2003, the FBI described it as the "hottest, and most troubling, new scam on the Internet." The smartest prevention lies in education - here are some tips for your end users, courtesy of CNN and WordSpy.

Simple Spam Prevention: have a look at the source code on our "contacts" page - you won't see the "@" symbol anywhere. Why? Because spammers use "bot" programs to harvest email addresses from the the Internet and they're looking for the "@" symbol. Here's a nice clean solution: obfuscate email addresses using "hex" code in the html instead of plain text. A hex converting tool can be found here.
